APPOINTMENT OF CLERK / RESPONSIBLE FINANCIAL OFFICER

 

A vacancy has arisen for a Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer for the Ockbrook and Borrowash Parish Council.  The Parish incorporates two villages, covers a wide area and has a population of more than 7000.  The Parish has a Cemetery, a Parish Hall, a play area and two allotment sites; a new Burial site is being investigated. There is also the management of a Charity.  The Clerk is the Proper Officer of the Council and responsibilities include the preparation of agendas and minutes of meetings and committee meetings, liaison with outside agencies, managing financial records, receipts and payments, acting on Council resolutions and managing the Cemetery. The Clerk will also be the line manager for an office assistant.

 

Ideally candidates should have previous administrative experience, be conversant with local government, know something of the area and be interested in the local community.  Applicants should either possess the CiLCA qualification or undertake to obtain it.  Training will be available.  All candidates must be computer literate with a good level of IT skills, have a knowledge of finance and accountancy, and good organisational and communication skills.

 

The salary will be within the NALC/SLCC Scale SCP 25 – 27  (£11.296 - £12.052 per hour) depending on experience, initially for 8 hours per week, although this will be subject to review.
